Purchasing Manager (f/m)

We are a medium-sized corporation that is operating worldwide and we are specialized in developing and manufacturing of high-quality parts of plastics and aluminum for office furniture and automotive industries. Our products have made us to an international market leader. For our company in Canada we are currently looking for:

A hands-on Purchasing Manager with strong relationship building skills to join our growing Team. This position is a full time permanent position reporting to the Managing Director

Job Title: Purchasing Manager
Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time
Start date: As soon as possible
Salary: $41.00 - $53.00 per hour
Hours: 40 hours/week
Work experience: 5 years

Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the overall purchasing activities.
Analyze processes within Bock North America and champion improvements.
Participates in the development of strategies and systems to ensure that all operations achieve quality and quantity targets, minimizing scrap, and increase manufacturing efficiencies.
Provides training support and analytical tools to support internal Production projects and improvements.
Support the Managing Director in various sales initiatives such as margin analysis, project costing analysis etc.
Leads cross-functional Production teams working on continuous improvement initiatives, such as cost savings and training initiatives, in support of Scorecard and other strategic objectives.
Identify vendors of materials, equipment or supplies
Strategic purchasing lead for all purchased product, review quotations and negotiate terms at Bock North America and optimize buying power within Bock North America. In addition negotiate international supplies with Head Office.
Develop/implement new procedures to streamline purchasing/operations in various departments and reduce costs within the facility.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be highly motivated and able to work with a minimum of supervision.
Strong communication and problem solving skills.
Strong analytical and negotiating skills.
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
Able to create alternative solutions to problems and work well under pressure.
Possess a valid driver's license.
Experience negotiating with different cultures.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years Senior Global Strategic Purchasing experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in process improvement or project management.
Experience in change management is considered an asset.
Must be fluent in English and German, written and spoken. Ability to speak Mandarin is considered an asset.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and SAP. Aptitude to learn new software and computerized systems.
Experience negotiating purchasing contracts for Global Resin Suppliers.
Sound business judgement, highly developed organizational, administrative, time management and interpersonal skills.
Sound management skills and the ability to effectively plan.

Additional requirements:

Knowledge of SAP

Required education:

Post-secondary education in business administration, commerce or economics.

Language:

German
Mandarin

Location:

Cambridge, Ontario.

 

Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and have the ability to do international travel.
